In this last decade, a lot of diets have been discovered by people. Thanks to technology, the accessibility of diets, food products has increased incredibly. Although, what it has also caused is that a lot of people are blindly following these diets. Hence, it is very important what each diet means and why it is followed.
Vegan, keto, Atkins, fruitarian, paleo, and a lot of such “fad diets” have emerged. People have been following them obsessively without understanding their purpose. Let’s uncover what each diet stands for and which one needs to be consumed.
This type of diet was very famous during the 20th century especially when Steve Jobs revealed his fruitarian diet. In this diet, only raw fruits, seeds, nuts, dry fruits are consumed and grains, legumes, and tubers are restricted in this diet. This diet doesn’t consist of any animal-related products. Hence, there is a high chance of nutrition deficiency.
Although, this diet brings a lot of benefits. It is rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals that encourage regular bowel movements. But at the same time, it has low carbs and fats which might not fulfill the daily quota of required elements of carbs and fats. Also, overeating only fruits to fulfill your hunger is never healthy. Hence, this diet is followed by a smaller set of people.
Atkins Diet was created around the 1970s by Robert Atkins. During those times there were a lot of cardiac and diabetes issues all over the world. This diet was specifically designed for weight loss. It basically contains high fat, high lean protein, low carbs, and is rich in fiber. It basically has 4 stages.
The first stage starts with only 10% fat included in the meal. This can be called ketosis. Since it consists of a high amount of lean protein. In the second stage, the carbohydrates are slowly increased and the protein diet is reduced.
In the third stage, the person is advised to exercise a bit so that the weight loss process will be boosted while the carbohydrates are increased since more energy is required for exercise. Finally, in the fourth stage, carbs are increased even up to a point of 80% of your diet. But, at the same time, exercise routines are also longer.
This is what happens when you follow an Atkin Diet.
This diet includes eggs, meat, certain vegetables, fish, and healthy oil fats. But you cannot consume any processed products, artificial sweeteners, or soft drinks. The basic concept of paleo diets is to eat whole foods and avoid processed food. This is because when we eat food that is processed, we lose a lot of raw nutrients that the food has.
Now let’s run a comparison. Is the fruitarian diet better or the Atkin diet better or is the paleo diet the best?
Well, the answer is it depends on your body composition. Your genes and your body type respond to different types of food products. Hence, it is important to understand what works for you.
There are two ways to discover this. Either you can try every diet and see what works which can have a heavy toll on your mind and body or you can simply consult a nutritionist that will provide you with what works for you.
